Wow. Sony and PlayStation came out with a major showcase that premiered today. There were lots of announcements and updates to games that we announced. They announced this last Thursday with a week of marketing, and we have seen that done before and be not so great. Honestly, I had absolutely little to no expectations for this showcase but this seriously blew up bigger than I thought they would do. Below are the list of a few things that seriously stood out to me.

They started with an announcement for Knights of the Old Republic Remake that is coming exclusively to PS5 at launch. Not much in terms of details but you can check it out here. This one is very big since I remember playing the game back when I was a kid and now, I get to experience it again.

They then showed up with a game called Project Eve and that has a Platinum Games feel but its made by a smaller studio. The hack and slash gameplay while also having an interesting UI and gameplay makes me very interested in it. The trailer looked really good and I am definitely going to keep my eye on this one.

Next came Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands which I honestly don’t care about. I am not a fan of Gearbox and this just looks like another Borderlands game with some magical elements. Sorry.

Then came Forspoken, a game by Square Enix and Luminos Productions and this game looks impressive every time I see it. We got to see a lot more combat and understand more of the gameplay in this world and what the objective appears to be. The game will launch on PS5 and PC in Spring 2022.

The came Rainbow Six Extraction and well, I don’t play FPS games typically so I really didn’t care about it. Then, Alan Wake Remastered came and showed gameplay and even though this was technically announced before the show happened, it looked interesting and I am very interested in playing through this game for the first time. Then we saw GTA V next gen which I mean come on… this game has been around for so long that you know what the game is to be honest. After that we got Ghostwire Tokyo and at first when it was originally announced I was like, oh its FPS so I don’t really have any desire or pull for the game.

Then we got Guardians of the Galaxy game from Square Enix and Eidos Montreal and the game looks good, but I don’t know if I can trust them after what happened with Avengers on day 1. It looks better since its single player and offline, but I don’t know.

Then we got a couple of games including Blood Hunt, Deathloop, a game that has some kind of Radiohead connection, and an indie title called Tchia. All of which, didn’t excite me, except a little bit of Tchia based on some of the mechanics that I saw in it. After this though, it was all first party titles and they were massive here.

Uncharted 4 and Uncharted Lost Legacy are getting a PS5 remaster and a PC port in Early 2022. I was gonna play Uncharted 4 recently and was like, maybe I’ll wait and see if they do something with it and well…. they did. After this, I actually lost my mind a little bit.

INSOMNIAC GAMES ARE ABSOLUTELY INSANE! I don’t get how they can have so many projects all come out very close to one another. Some studios take like 6+ years to announce a game and release it, but these guys have been on a role ever since they were bought by Sony back in 2018. They announced not one, but TWO titles today at the showcase They announced Wolverine by showing a teaser trailer of it without too much information or date.

Then, we got a new look at Gran Turismo 7 which will be coming in March 4, 2022. I am not a racing game fan but it looks absolutely solid and the gameplay looks impressive with all they are implementing on it.

AND THEN INSOMNIAC COMES BACK WITH SPIDERMAN 2. Spider-Man and Miles Morales were both in the trailer teaming up to defeat their enemy but then there was a voice that you could hear… and that voice was VENOM. You got a look at him too, but just a peak. The game is coming in 2023 and is EXCLUSIVE to PS5.

This wasn’t the last thing they ended on though… no. They gave us a good look at God of War: Ragnarok. Atreus and Kratos are both in this one, and it appears as though you are searching for a few people that dont want to be found. The trailer shows a lot of new combat, and new characters as well. Take a look at the trailer below.

Honestly, we were coming on the end of 2021 without much of information on a lot of titles that are coming next year and beyond but they really came out swinging with not just first party titles, but some awesome looking third parties as well. I personally hoped we could see a little more of Horizon Forbidden West but unfortunately that was not there at all. Maybe a different showcase will have it. Honestly, they were really pushing hard the fact that PS5 exclusive games are coming and they are starting sooner than some may have anticipated. Such a great time to be a PlayStation fan for all of the games coming to both current gen, and last gen. For more information, you can check out the PS Blog.
